AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has condemned Israel’s continued destruction and bulldozing operations in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, now ongoing for 123 consecutive days.
In a statement released on Friday, Hamas accused Israeli forces of systematically demolishing Palestinian landmarks and tightening the siege to prevent Jenin residents from accessing their homes.
Initial assessments indicate that the aggression has resulted in the complete demolition of 600 homes in the camp, while remaining structures have sustained severe damage, making them uninhabitable.
Hamas noted that Israeli forces have carved out around 15 roads inside Jenin Camp, which spans less than half a square kilometer. The city has also suffered extensive destruction to buildings, essential facilities, and infrastructure.
The statement further accused Israeli forces of conducting raids throughout Jenin and its surroundings, carrying out mass arrests and subjecting residents to abuses.
In an escalated move, Israeli soldiers reportedly targeted dozens of Arab and European ambassadors and diplomats during their visit to Jenin Camp.
On May 21, Israeli forces stationed at Jenin refugee camp fired live ammunition at a diplomatic delegation entering the camp to assess refugee conditions.
The delegation included diplomats from Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, France, India, Japan, Jordan, Lithuania, Mexico, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Sri Lanka, Spain, Turkey, the EU, and the UK, along with representatives from other nations and accompanying journalists.
The visit was organized by the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates to expose Israel’s ongoing aggression against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
Israel launched an intensified offensive on the West Bank on January 21, claiming to target Jenin Battalion resistance fighters.
Since October 7, 2023, when it initiated its military campaign in Gaza, Israeli forces and settlers have killed approximately 1,000 Palestinians in the West Bank.
Reports indicate that Israeli forces have also abducted 7,000 Palestinians and forcibly displaced thousands of residents from their homes in recent months.
